Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth . . .
It is unbelievable that we have so quickly reached this time of year again. It seems as if we have blinked just a few times since we last celebrated with our graduates and their families. Yet here we are. This is one of those extra special days at West Metro—we not only gather today to worship God and fellowship with one another, but also to honor our young men and women who are about to move into a new and exciting phase in their lives. For the parents, we rejoice and commiserate with you, knowing that this transition is as difficult for you as it is exciting.
For our graduates—now is the time to make many decisions, all of which carry a measure of importance greater than most of the decisions made up to this point in your lives. As some have said, “This is where it gets real.” Out of all the choices that will have to be made, however, there is none more critical than the choice to draw near to God. Whatever it is that comes next for you, be it college or trade school or a job, know that God will lead you and guide you in all your steps. He desperately wants us to be near him, and he is always faithful. Because of this, place your trust in God. Make sure that, out of all the relationships you have, the one with God remains a priority. During these next several years, you will be tempted like never before to set God aside. Resist this temptation—keep God close. He will bless you in ways that you cannot imagine.
It is good to be here today to celebrate our Savior and to honor our young brothers and sisters. Thanks for being here. Enjoy the fellowship.
